Country Reports Extracts – Additives or Ingredients? In Denmark, the issue has been raised of whether extracts of plants or other natural substances, which are used in food or food supplements, should be classified as ingredients or additives. The Danish authorities are of the opinion that many of such extracts are additives and that it is illegal to market foodstuffs on the Danish market containing such extracts unless they are approved as additives.
