New Anti-Tobacco Spanish Law from the Perspective of the EU Standard on Advertising and Sponsorship of Tobacco Products

I. Introduction On the 15 December 2005, the Spanish Parliament approved the law project on sanitary measures on tobacco smoking and on the regulation of the sale, supply and consumption and advertising of tobacco products, giving birth to what has been denominated as the "anti-tobacco law".1 With the approval of this polemic law, Spain has passed from being one of the most permissive states in the European Union, in this matter, to becoming a country
