210 Nutrient Profiles – The Precondition for Health Claims EFFL 4|2007 I. Reasons and Background Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 on nutrition and health claims made on foods was recently published in the Official Journal of the European Union. It has since entered into force and is valid from 1 July 2007. Article 4 of the Regulation permits the use of nutrition and health claims on foods as long as the foods comply with a stipulated nutrient profile.
