The Enactment of the e-Commerce Law in China and its Impact on Food e-Commerce

Dr. Pinghui Xiao is a senior lecturer at Law School, Guangzhou University, China. He worked in the Institute of Executive Development, China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) as an in-house post-doctoral researcher between 2015 and 2017 and obtained his PhD in law from the University of South Australia in 2013. Acknowledgement: This report is a research output of two research projects, namely, ‘A Study of Online Food Regulation’ supported by Humanities and Social Sciences Fund of Ministry of Education, China (Grant No: 18YJC820071) and ‘A Study on China’s Internet Governance: Food and Drug E-commerce Perspective’, supported by Guangzhou University, China. It is partially based on the first author’s past work in CFDA between 2015 and 2017, where he participated to draft laws and rules related to food e-commerce.
