The Animal Husbandry Labelling Act (TierHaltKennzG) of August 17, 2023 came into force on August 24, 2023 in order to ensure transparency and clarity on the German market with regard to the way animals are kept and enable consumers to make informed purchasing decisions. This means that for the first time there is mandatory animal husbandry labelling for certain foodstuffs from pigs that are intended for sale to the end consumer.
