In particular, it analyses the recent decision of the British government to introduce traffic light labels on food products. After having explored comparative examples of front-of-pack labelling, the paper focuses on critical issues of the English approach and on the questionable compatibility of the English policy with European law and with the new General Regulation on food labelling, which will go into effect in December 2014.
